SFC Civil Constructors, a division of Journey Group, is a dedicated civil construction team. We take on structural, transportation, treatment plants, and environmental construction projects of all sizes in the region. We specialize in bridge repair and new bridge construction. We have built CIP and MSE retaining walls, energy recovery systems, water and waste water treatment plants, and pile foundations. This position is full time, benefit eligible, and the wage is negotiable depending on experience.

Position Summary:

Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, steel and wallboard using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and communicate with the Field Superintendent to interpret plans for information pertaining to the layout and dimensions of the structure to be formed.
  • Responsible construction and the layout of forms to be used in the placing of the concrete elements of structure.
  • Clean and maintain hand and power equipment on a daily basis
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that it conforms to the specifications and the dimensions required.
  • Comply and take responsibility to ensure all company safety requirements and policies are met
  • Assure that workmanship is of the highest quality
  • Involvement in all aspects of construction, form and strip, rebar and concrete placement and installation all other elements.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability preferred
  • Ability to travel
  • Knowledge and use of all safety devices and general safe work practices
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational/planning skills
  • Proactive, has a sense of urgency
  • Analytical and critical thinking
  • Progressive responsibilities in the areas of field knowledge preferred
  • A proactive rather than reactive approach to resolving construction issues
  • Self-starter with ability to set own goals and tasks
  • Diplomacy in working with other people
